CMA the Netherlands was formed 1 January 1998, by a merger of two Dutch Christian Motorcyclists Clubs, the Evangelical Motorclub "Psalm 23" and Roosters' Crow.
Evangelical Motorclub "Psalm 23" was started in 1982 by motorcyclists who felt the calling to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with other people. The name comes from one of the most beautiful pieces of poetry in the Bible, but exactly why it was chosen for this club is unclear to this day. The word Evangelical in the name stands for the evangelizing that it did, and not for any denomination in the christian world.
Roosters' Crow was an evangelical motorcyclists club that was started in the northern part of Holland, Friesland. There have always been contacts between Psalm 23 and Roosters' Crow, but because Psalm 23 was mainly focussed on street evangelism, there were major differences between both clubs. Roosters' Crow has always had vision for the dutch biking world.
In 1996 both clubs decided that it was time to combine strengths. First by assisting and supporting each other, and in 1997 they decided to really join forces and become one club. That drive for coöperation did not apply only to The Netherlands, but also by joining the CMA International Coalition because they also wanted to be part of the global evangelization efforts. To accommodate both clubs and to make a fresh start it was decided that neither of the club names would be kept, and a total new structure was to be implemented. Also the joint club decided to work only with and for motorcyclists.
4 to 5 times a year club members get a magazine, named Kruiskoppeling (Universal Joint, no pun intended), with reports of activities all over the country and the agenda for scheduled activities.
